AMH'S Pediatric Support Center for the Community

Dedicated to Children with Neurodivergence 

The Child Developmental Unit has been established to serve children of all abilities and their families within the Bahrain community. 

On 1 December 2022, the Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy David P Brownstein opened the Developmental Unit, with Julia Tovey, the Group CEO of the American Mission Hospital.

It is an integrated, multidisciplinary team where specialists from the Mental Health Department, ENT, Occupational and Rehabilitative Health, and Pediatrics work collaboratively to provide comprehensive support. 

The unit offers thorough assessments of children’s developmental strengths and needs, and recommends early intervention strategies or specialized therapies to promote their growth and overall well-being.

Additionally, it functions as an Activity Centre where children of all abilities can engage in meaningful activities in a welcoming and supportive environment, under the supervision of trained professionals.

At AMH’s Saar Medical Centre, the Development Unit is already operational and is open from Saturday to Monday. 

At A'Ali, the unit operates from Tuesday to Thursday, 9 AM to 5 PM at the King Hamad American Mission Hospital. 

The team is dedicated to fostering an inclusive community and empowering children with diverse needs in Bahrain.
