Colon cancer screening at Isa Town Social Centre

American Mission Hospital, Manama, Bahrain's only not-for-profit hospital, and the first accredited hospital in the Kingdom of Bahrain held the second of 5 colon cancer screening programs at Isa Town social center today, May 13th, 2012.

Bahnaz Abbas, Senior Manager of Fundraising and Communications at American Mission Hospital commented, "As part of our continuing Community Outreach programs, we provide educational and preventative medical services at various venues to promote health and well being of the community of Bahrain.  We are continuing the mission of our founders by providing high quality affordable health care to those in need. "

She added, "The first event was a success, with over 150 people taking advantage of the colon screening at the Hamad Town Social Center.   Out of the 150 samples provided, the testing has been completed and results have shown at least 4 patients who will be called back for further investigation.  We had many inquiries about the program once the Hamad Town screening took place, so we expect an even larger turnout at the other social centers."

Fatima Dailami Head of the Social centers commented, "We are pleased to have our social centers participating in this wonderful program of Colon cancer screening and we are grateful to AMH for continuing to provide such excellent services to the community of Bahrain."

Roche, who are providing the kits for screening, displayed an inflatable representation of the human colon which visitors can walk through and see the stages of development of colorectal cancer.

We would like to thank the Ministry of Human Rights and Social Development for their support and our Diamond sponsor BMI Bank, Platinum Sponsor ABC & Bahrain National Gas Company B.S.C., Gold sponsors Roche, Gulf Daily News, Akhbar Al Khaleej and Chevron, Silver sponsor YK Almoayyed, and Bronze sponsors KDD, Mohamed Fakhro, Trafco, Coca Cola, Lays and Evian."
