AMH Colon Cancer Walkathon
The first charity Colon Cancer Walkathon held by the American Mission Hospital (AMH) on March 23rd boasted an attendance of over 500 people.
The event was held under the patronage of H.E. Sadiq Al Shahabi, Minister of Health at Dohat Arad walkway as part of the AMH Community Outreach program to promote awareness and provide education to the community of Bahrain and coincides with Colon Cancer awareness month held every March worldwide. The event was open to the public and participants were given a t-shirt, which highlighted the mission of the event which was stronger together- one mission one vision.
HE Sadek Al Shahabi said , "It gives me great pleasure and honor to participate in this Charity Walkathon to help promote colon cancer awareness, and I would like to thank American Mission Hospital for conducting this charity program. The Ministry of Health is concerned about these types of diseases and wish our patients good health. I hope the team at American Mission Hospital will succeed in promoting the awareness of colon cancer in our community. We wish you every success."
AMH Marketing & Development Manager, Bahnaz Abbas added "AMH is grateful for the tremendous turnout of supporters for this charitable event. We would also like to thank H.E. Sadiq Al Shahabi, Minister of Health for his most gracious patronage of our event. All donations and the proceeds from the event will be utilized to sponsor complete colon cancer screenings for 1,000 patients in Bahrain starting in May. Screening test start with a free stool analysis, followed by a consultation with a gastroenterologist and a colonoscopy which will all be free if needed."
Dr. George Cheriyan, CEO/ CMO, American Mission Hospital said, "We received a great response from the community towards this project. The community Outreach Program is not only a social commitment of the hospital but the continuation of our legacy to the Kingdom of Bahrain. AMH is looking to play a vital role in defining the future healthcare of the Kingdom and it is very important that people are more health conscious in order to ensure disease free future generations.
