In 1979, Dr Richardson volunteered to put a concrete slab for the
church in India and developed severe lower back pain. He was put
into a body cast for six weeks. "That experience has taught
me to appreciate a level of the pain, rehabilitation and frustration
that some of my patients suffer from." Says Dr Richardson.
He performs most of the 1000+ circumcisions each
year. His administrative responsibilities also include the training
of new medical staff. Dr Richie says "This is a challenging
task but with the team atmosphere, we all learn from each others
strengths and weaknesses."
In addition to English, he speaks Telugu,
Hindi and Arabic (almost sufficient to communicate with his patients).
