DEPARTMENT OF CHAPLAINCY

Department of Chaplaincy plays a complementary role in fulfilling the stated Vision and purpose of AMH. We are here to serve the people in Bahrain in the Spirit of Christ who went about doing good to all who came to him. Equipping the staff 'to be never lacking in zeal' in their service routine, requires times set apart for reflection, study and prayer on a regular basis.

The Chaplain, Rev. Appu Varghese gives leadership at the morning devotions and incorporates members of the staff to share in this ministry. A monthly schedule is prepared and circulated well in advance. He visits the patients in the wards offering prayers and counseling for those who seek help. 51% of the staff are Bahrainis and he sees to it that we maintain good team spirit and remain committed to one another.

Chapel:- Every day except Fridays we have a devotional time in the Samuel Zwemer Chapel at 7 am. Christian staff belonging to different denominations and nationalities gather together for prayer and a short meditation. On every fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM, there is a time for singing, intercession and study. Weekly prayers are conducted in our Health Center at Saar. Dr Kalyan Subramaniam gives inspiring leadership in music.

Reading Materials: Bibles and other reading materials are made available in the wards and clinics in different languages for the patients. We also maintain a small library for the staff and their families.
