The Gala dinner

AAB-AMH hold Charity Gala Dinner for more than 450 people

The American Association of Bahrain (AAB) and American Mission Hospital (AMH) held their annual Gala Dinner at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Wednesday 22nd September, taking the opportunity to honor around 50 organizations for their sponsorship of the hospital.

The prestigious Gala Dinner is part of the AAB-AMH’s Island Classic fundraising program which is held under the Patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Dr. Paul Armerding, AMH Chief Medical Officer/CEO said: “This is the eighth year of our fundraising program and the support from the community has once again been very generous indeed, raising around BD80,000 which directly benefits the hospital’s newly-launched clinics, our charity care budget and medical equipment fund. A number of other sponsors contributed cash or in kind towards the various events and activities of the Island Classic program, ensuring that the costs of the tournament are an absolute minimum for the hospital. Tonight, we have been able to acknowledge all our sponsors for their ongoing support and give them an evening to remember.”

This year’s event boasted a special motor racing theme in the reception area, organized with the full support of Bahrain International Circuit (BIC). This gave the 450 attendees a chance to find out the latest news about the circuit’s activities and see a wonderful display of motor racing memorabilia including a Formula 1 car.

The charity dinner evening - sponsored this year by Ebrahim K. Kanoo – included a host of surprises and a charity auction with items on offer including an F1 2004 signed Toyota Set, VIP tickets to two key events at BIC, a weekend in one of The Ritz-Carlton’s new beachfront villas, two tickets to Europe courtesy of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, a painting by Bahraini artist Abbas Al-Musawi, professional golfing memorabilia and a special edition Formula 1 TAG Heuer watch, courtesy of TAG Heuer.

Dr. Paul Armerding also took the opportunity to promote the golf tournament which will take place at His Majesty’s Private Golf Course on 7-9th October. The Prize-Giving event will take place at BIC (Sakhir Tower) on Sunday 10th October.

John Potter, AAB Board Member and Acting President on the night, said: “We are extremely grateful to His Majesty the King once again for being our Patron and for enabling us to hold this tournament on his Private Golf Course. We are also delighted that we have such a packed and entertaining program for this year’s Island Classic. This program remains a major sporting and social event in Bahrain’s calendar.”
